With the alleged imminent release of the theorized Apple Tablet, there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not it will run Flash. As you already know, the iPhone does not have a Flash plugin, nor standalone Flash player. The Apple Tablet, which may or may not exist, will most likely run on a derivative of the iPhone OS. Steve Jobs recently announced at the WWDC that the iPhone will be able to allow developers to develop iPhone apps using the Safari browser as a platform (video). “We have been trying to come up with a solution to expand the capabilities of iPhone by letting developers write great apps for it and yet keep the iPhone reliable and secure, and we’ve come up with a very sweet solution.” There’s no SDK, you use web technologies and deliver your apps via the web. Webdesignfromscratch has an interesting post that dissects the graphical style of current – how you say – “Web 2.0″ style in web design. In short, big text, white space, gradients, and cute icons. So – attention all you web designers because this is really important – we should all make our web sites look like this.
I personally always use rounded corners so my users do not hurt themselves using my sites. Seriously, though, it’s a good read, and demonstrates some of the very important lessons that designers have learned as the web has matured. Namely, that web design is becoming more and more content-centric. This is good for usability and communication.

IE7 is coming soon, and in order to prepare us, Microsoft is broadcasting e-mail notices to inform us regarding the Best Practices for “minimizing disruption” to our application environments. I’m so glad to see Microsoft being proactive about ensuring that everyone who codes for the web will have time to upgrade the internet to be Vista-ready.
