World Map RSS Screensaver

Filed under: General — geoff @ 9:49 am

I’ve created a screensaver out of the world map RSS reader I have on reverbiage. I made significant design changes due to the fact that it’s a screensaver. I’m using a darker palette (to save the screen), and made it interactive so that you can click on stories in the feed. Get it here.

It works pretty well, although the animation is a bit jumpy at full-screen. It’s windows-only for now. Anyone know of a good (cheap!) Flash screensaver creator for Mac OS X?

  1. Thanks very much, this is great. I’m an expat living in Germany and also an NPR junkie. Other than “blank screen” this is the first screen saver I’ve used in 15 years.

  2. Very nice rss scrensaver!
Graphic, conception is much better than everything I saw… but we are linked just to the NPR news and we can’t add other rss from other media… try to think about it !
But congratulations anyway… and thank you to offer it free.

  3. Could you please explain how I can change the source of news in the above mentioned screensaver?
If you know how to change it to world business news - please kindly share with me.

Actually screensaver is very interesting, but news source is not.

    Thanks in advance

  4. Andrew,

Right now it isn’t configurable. I think that it is a good idea to be able to change it, so I’ll try to work up a new version that allows the user to enter feed sources. I can’t promise any ETA at this point, though!
